From bedside to building better systems, Katie Svoboda, BSN, RN brings 38 years of care and clarity to patient access.
As Director of Patient Services at eMAX Health Patient Services, Katie leads with clinical expertise, operational precision, and a deep commitment to people. Her career spans bedside nursing, home infusion, and the design of complex patient support programs. Her insights have shaped the way we serve patients, providers, and partners today.
We asked Katie to share her perspective on what it takes to build patient services that truly work.
Q: What’s your focus in your role at eMAX Health Patient Services?
Katie: “I lead the strategy and day-to-day operations for our patient access programs, including benefit investigations, authorizations, appeals, and patient assistance for both pharmacy and medical benefit .I also work closely with our tech team to continuously evolve HealthPACER®, ensuring it reflects the real-world needs of patients, providers, and staff. One of the most meaningful parts of my role is guiding and mentoring our team to help them understand the process and people we’re here to support.”
Q: Why is your experience in home health and payer operations so important to this work?
Katie: “Coordinating care across settings like home infusion, hospitals, and payers helps you understand how fragmented the experience can be for a patient. My background allows me to connect the dots and build systems that are efficient, compliant, and most importantly, patient centered.”
Q: What makes hybrid hub models so valuable for manufacturers today?
Katie: “Hybrid models give brands flexibility to scale, control to stay aligned with their strategy, and the right level of support for their therapy. My job is to make those models work by ensuring our programs are disease-specific, adherence-focused, and operationally sound.”
Why it matters: Katie’s leadership is instrumental in helping eMAX Health deliver programs that are:
▪️ Scalable and customizable across therapeutic areas
▪️ Designed to support complex coordination, especially in oncology and infused biologics
▪️ Patient-first and audit-ready
▪️ Built to reduce time-to-therapy and increase adherence
She’s a key reason our hybrid patient services model works—because she builds it with both the system and the human in mind.
